Kanha National Park has a subtropical climate with hot, dry summers and cool, rainy monsoons. Summers are very hot with temperatures frequently rising over 40°C. The dry summer landscape sees wildlife congregating near the few waterholes. The monsoon arrives in July and August, bringing heavy rain which cools the region and supports new plant growth. Winters are cold with temperatures dropping to 5°C at night, though daytimes are warmer around 22°C . The clear sunny winter days are good for wildlife viewing. The extreme seasonal variation supports extensive biodiversity, making Kanha an excellent habitat for wildlife.
