This luxury 4 Day Fly In Safari to the Masai Mara in Kenya, takes guests on an unforgettable safari to this world renowned game reserve. The Masai Mara, now the new 7th wonder of the world and 4th most preferred tourist destination in the world is a home to wildlife in such abundance and variety that is hard to imagine. The annual migration of the wildebeest and the zebras start from the Serengeti as they search for water and pasture while at the same time being followed on their heels by the predators of the savannah; lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures. It hosts over 450 species of animals which includes lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants.
The setting is magical at the Governors Camp. So much so that almost a century ago it was reserved, exclusively, for Kenya’s colonial Governors. Governors’ Camp nestles in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, it’s waters teeming with bird-life, hippo and crocodile, in the heart of Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve.
Some of the 37 tents line the riverbank, tucked into the forest they enjoy uninterrupted views over the Mara River, others have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara. Created in 1972 Governors’ Camp set new standards in luxury for a tented camp. Today it’s still Africa’s best.
Everything is under canvas, all tents have en-suit bathrooms with hot and cold running water and flushing toilets. There is a bar tent with deck overlooking the Mara River and dinning tent with views over the plains.
Governors Camp has just been awarded a Silver Eco Rating from Eco- Tourism Kenya due to our sustainable tourism practices in place in camp.
Transfer to the Wilson airport in Nairobi for a scheduled flight by light aircraft (maximum baggage allowance 15 kgs) to Masai Mara Game Reserve (approximately 45 minutes). Met on arrival at the airstrip and transferred to the Governors Camp. After lunch at the lodge enjoy a late afternoon game-drive in the reserve which is the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem.
Everything about Masai Mara is outstanding. The wildlife is abundant and the gentle rolling grasslands ensure that animals are never out of sight. Birds, too, are prolific. Including migrants, well over 450 species have been recorded, among them, 57 species of birds of prey. The climate is gentle, rarely too hot and well-spread rainfall year round. Rain, when it falls almost always chooses the late afternoon or night. Between July and October, when the great wildebeest migration is in the Masai Mara National Reserve, the sensation is unparalleled. Masai Mara is one of the best plains' game reserve where you can actually encounter a live Discovery Channel, a haven for viewing a congregation of all sorts of animals in a five-mile radius: A pride of lions can be spotted ready to make a run for a gazelle.
Welcome to the Masai Mara National Park, an undisputed paradise for the sheer quantity and variety of wildlife. Renowned for its lions and for the annual Great Wildebeest Migration, Kenya's greatest reserve is as magical as your wildest safari dreams.
You will be picked up from the Mara airstrip by camp vehicle and then transferred to your luxury camp. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch before departing for an afternoon game drive till evening.
